Your Healthy Back-to-School Checklist
I know It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. And as the next school year is approaching, I still can’t figure out if I’m happy or terrified.
On one hand the kids will be occupied and I won’t have to constantly try to invent fun (adn exhausting) activities. On another hand – I’m so not looking forward to all those homework evenings.
Anyways, it’s inevitable. So let’s focus on things we can do to make the transition easier for both, kids and parents.
We partnered with Fidelis Care to come up with Healthy Back-to-School Checklist, thus you can be sure to smoothly slide into a new school year!
As another summer comes to a close, let’s do all we can to make sure the new school year starts on a healthy note for kids.
Here are some tips to help your family prepare:
Keep a sleep schedule. Help kids ease back into the school night routine by stressing the importance of sleep now. Gradually begin to set earlier bedtimes, so that early wake-up time on the first day of school doesn’t come as a shock.
Teach kids about healthy eating. Summer is a great time to help your children learn healthier eating habits they can carry with them into the new school year. Encourage them to try different healthy foods, and prepare healthier versions of their favorite meals. Go to the dentist. Now is a good time to schedule a dental visit for your child. Staying up-to-date on dental visits helps to prevent cavities and other tooth and gum diseases in children.
Schedule an annual checkup. Schools, daycares, and athletic programs require up-to-date immunization records, clearances for physical activity, and instructions from a primary care provider if your child has special health needs. If you haven’t already this year, now is a great time to schedule an appointment with your child’s primary care provider to make sure they are ready for the new school year.
Let’s Get Every Child Covered
We’ve come a long way in getting kids covered and giving them a healthy start in life – with regular checkups, dental and eye care, immunizations, and a doctor who knows their name.
Fidelis Care is working to help every child get the coverage they need. Our representatives are attending hundreds of events throughout the summer to answer questions, share information, and make it as easy as possible for parents to learn about quality health insurance for their children.
