Loooove this time of the year! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there is no denying that you can just feel something in the air (ahem Christmas spirit) ;)
This holiday month feels the most cheerful and generally I think people are just nicer to each other around Christmas time.
When it comes to holiday fashions one thing I hateee is the “Ugly Sweater Party” idea. I mean, let’s be real, does anyone actually enjoy putting on a hideous sweater and standing in it the whole night while sipping on their wine? If the answer is YES, then obviously I am missing something. But then HEY- I prefer to be left out here ;)
Whomever came up with the Ugly Sweater Party probably came to it on accident because he/she was having a bad day, had nothing to wear, and literally just threw on some hideous sweater (probably from his mom’s closet, that she got as a gift 10 years ago, of course). Naturally that
had to happen.
But there is something about December that makes you just want to dress festive to at least one party. And chances are you will have to attend some sort of office holiday party or something festive.
So I compiled a small list of some things to help you with dressing for the holidays without looking like you are actually attending some theme party.
1.) Metallic Tights and a LBD.
Spanx makes an amazing pair click here to purchase
By throwing on a pair of these tights instead of your usual black/nude ones you are instantly saying that you showed up for the party ready.
2.) Chances are not tons of you own a red belt but if you do please wear it in December! Wear it with black skinny pants, pointy-toed pumps, and a black or white shirt tucked in. Tres Chic!
3.) Do you own metallic shoes? Silver and gold anyone? Now is the time to put them on display! Either wear them with cropped skinny black pants or with a dress and plain buy ativan online nude or black tights – not the metallic ones. Metallic on metallic is too much and you are then crossing into the tacky zone. (beware)
These Manolos are perfect!
The key for holiday dressing is not to look like you are trying too hard. Subtle hints of the season are preferred and always work. A red or green handbag, silk scarf, red nails, little hints like these will put you in the holiday spirit and keep you chic. Less is more in this case.
4.) There is something about velvet that screams Christmas time. This velvet skirt is so flirty and probably only acceptable to wear during December. I love it though.
This black velvet dress is the perfect winter party dress. Pair it with a shinny clutch (shinny looks so weird typed out but you know what I mean), red lipstick, and you’re done. You are officially winter party chic.
P.S. – This velvet stunner also comes in mommy sizes! Wear tights and a statement kitten heel (or flats) and you’re good.
When browsing H&M’s website, <<<Where all of these luscious velour looks can be found>>>, I also came across these crushed velvet leggings for mommies. I would pair these with a classic cashmere sweater and kitten heels. Uber chic.
Either slick your hair back in a tight polished pony or leave it down and let it flow behind your ears and down your back. Sometimes all that hair in your face is best tucked back, and I think with holiday attire the whole sexy hair in your face vibe is just too much of a good thing.
5.) If you have a beautiful cocktail ring that is festive looking please wear it!! With a red mani of course.
Keep your makeup light and just do a red lip. For the finishing touch, top yourself off with a perfume that smells reminiscent of the season – not some floraly one.
So there you have it, Dressing Festive Chic 101.
