When you don’t know what to wear …. wear a blazer.
With a good fitting blazer, you cannot go wrong – ever.
I think I learned this lesson in college. I remember on so many occasions being the only girl wearing a blazer, but I knew it looked good, so I didn’t care. It just made sense to me. I found myself wearing them more and more, every day like a uniform.
At first, all of my blazers were black, and then it hit me, like as if I didn’t know colors existed before, to slowly incorporate other tones into my new uniform.
The best way to start your blazer collection is with black, and then slowly integrate grays and tans. And remember, the fit is key, so don’t go all out on a blazer binge and just buy a bunch not focusing on fit.
The fit is so important because that’s what makes the blazer look so good. Even if you are wearing an expensive blazer, if it is ill-fitting, it will just look cheap.
Make sure that if the shoulders are strong they look perfect, or if the blazer kind of flows, make sure that it drapes perfectly. Some brands that nail blazers every time are Theory, Veronica Beard, Elie Tahari, Iro, and Polo Ralph Lauren.
Definitely save up and splurge.. it may be painful at first to pay the price-tag, but once you see how stylish, sophisticated, innovative, sexy, and polished you look, it will get easier and easier ;P
